As a young boy, James van Praagh remembers having quite big interest with the subject of death. This is peculiar since he was raised as a Catholic during his learning years; he even served the church as an altar boy. When he turned to the age of 14, he tried entering the seminary hoping that he would further his understanding with the catholic religion but as his knowledge about theology grows deeper, his interest with it grew weaker. While in that duration, his sense of spirituality grew even stronger than ever. At a young age of 8 years old, he had a fateful encounter that changed his life forever and from that moment on, he always asks himself about why that experienced happened to him.

While he just moved in Los Angeles, California, USA, Mr. James van Praagh received an invitation to meet a medium. That person told him that he will be doing the same work as a medium after two years. That connotation made him surprised as he never pictured himself to be one. He stated that it is enough he had troubles dealing and doing business with the living and that he would not even try to talk with dead. As years passed by, his sensitivity with paranormal things drastically took a leap on him and in that moment, he started giving psychic readings for his close friends.

Between some of his readings, he started to see, hear, and feel detailed messages from the spirits that have unfinished business or involved with the individual. At first, he fined his abilities to be quite bizarre and weird but he never felt scared with the thought of talking to the dead but rather, interested about it. As Mr. James van Praagh explained, a medium psychic is someone who has psychophysical abilities. They are the one that can further understand how to manipulate or use their extrasensory intuition. This ability is somewhat comes naturally to Mr. Praagh as he is able to interact the spirits that roam the dimension of the living.

These people can hear and feel thoughts, mental impressions and even voices coming from the numerous spirits. According to him, spirits are hyper sensitive to high frequencies and energies because these elements vibrate when they are near. There are two different kinds of medium, he calls it mental mediumship and physical mediumship, both makes use of abilities but channels it to do different techniques.
